The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966), together with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966), make up the International Bill of Human Rights. Pakistan has accepted this in 2008 and it was a big achievement for a state to take a step forward towards the basic rights of the people.
Basic essence of ICESCR
According to this, every human being is born free and having complete rights of independence. They have their own physical and social rights. This covenant ensures that everyone has right of education, freedom, religion and culture.
Online Resource Center for ICESCR
Online Resource center for ICESCR is a project of Bhittai Social Watch and Advocacy (BSWA) established in 1995 by group of well-educated and committed people of Khairpur Sindh. BSWA started its journey as charity organization and then with the help of social welfare department and different NGO are turned into developmental approach raising the rights agenda. On this same agenda online resource center is established to ensure the basic rights of people around rural area of Sindh especially women, youth and children on different forums. It’s a national campaign to make awareness.

Our basic aim and objective is to provide equal rights, opportunities and social mobilization for empowerment of rural community of Sindh. Our online resource center is a key player to providing sustainable opportunities for social cultural and economic development for people of Sindh.‘Opportunities and basic rights for all’ is our basic mission and we are making it possible through different efforts in social, education and health sectors.
